St. Cecilia School fosters a loving, faith-filled environment that promotes respect, kindness, and compassion. Through athletics, clubs and enrichment, student leadership, and faith-based service, students build friendships, develop new skills, grow as leaders, and put their faith into action while becoming well-rounded members of our school and parish community.

ATHLETICS

St. Cecilia’s Physical Education (PE) program provides all students with opportunities to develop physical fitness, cooperation, communication, and problem-solving skills. Athletics helps young people integrate their physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual strengths. We believe that sports are not just about the final score but about the formation and dignity of the whole person.Through games, sports, and other activities, students learn to try new things, respect themselves and others, and build confidence.

Beyond the school-day PE program, students can participate in recreational, parent-led sports in a variety of opportunities that encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, and friendships both on and off the field.

Recreational Sports: TK-Grade 2 ▾

Students in Transitional Kindergarten through second grade may participate in parent-led recreational sports programs, including soccer, basketball, and baseball. These programs welcome all interested students, with no cuts or skill-based team placement.

Competitive Sports: Grades 3-8 ▾

Beginning in third grade, St. Cecilia offers competitive team sports for boys and girls through Catholic Charities CYO and the Peninsula/Parish School League (PPSL) for track and field.

All students are welcome to participate in CYO sports. Volunteer coaches strive to create a positive and supportive environment that emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, physical fitness, communication, and personal growth while helping students build confidence and develop their skills.

CLUBS & ENRICHMENT

Students have opportunities to explore interests, develop new skills, and pursue their passions through a variety of clubs and enrichment programs. Through leadership opportunities, students are encouraged to take initiative, serve others, and contribute to the life of our school.

Academic Chess ▾

Students in Grades 1–8 learn and develop chess skills in an engaging environment designed to make the game accessible, enjoyable, and challenging.

Art Club ▾

Students in Grades 6–8 meet weekly after school to develop their artistic skills, explore creative projects, and participate in local and school-wide art contests.

Battle of the Books ▾

Students in Grades 4–6 read from a selected list of books, meet during lunchtime book club sessions, and prepare to compete against other teams in the annual Battle of the Books.

Cub Scouts ▾

Cub Scouts at St. Cecilia Parish provides boys in Grades K–5 with opportunities to develop character, leadership, faith, and service through hands-on activities, outdoor adventures, and community involvement.

Green Team ▾

Students in Grades 6–8 promote environmental stewardship by helping care for our school campus and educating the community about recycling, composting, and responsible waste disposal.

Instrumental Music ▾

Students in TK through Grade 8 have opportunities to explore their musical interests through optional private instrumental lessons in piano, strings, and woodwinds. Concerts and performances during the year provide opportunities for students to share their musical talents with the school community.

Kids Stock Drama ▾

Students in Grades 2–8 explore creativity, confidence, and self-expression through performance-based activities that introduce the fundamentals of theater and stage production.

Robotics ▾

Students in Grades 7–8 use LEGO robotics kits to design, build, and program robots to solve hands-on challenges. Through teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving, students explore engineering and technology while learning to test ideas, overcome obstacles, and improve their designs.

SCTV ▾

SCTV is a student-centered daily news program sponsored by the Student Council. Broadcast to classrooms throughout the school, SCTV gives students an opportunity to develop communication, collaboration, and leadership skills while keeping the school community informed and connected.

Student Council ▾

Students in Grades 4–8 have the opportunity to participate in Student Council, where they develop leadership skills, encourage service, and help promote school spirit and community.

Student Family ▾

Through programs such as our Buddy Program and Student Family Program, our students build relationships across grade levels and have opportunities to learn from, support, and celebrate one another.

Yearbook ▾

Students in Grades 7–8 can help create the annual school yearbook, developing skills in writing, photography, design, organization, and teamwork while documenting the school year.

FAITH & SERVICE

Students have opportunities to put their faith into action by serving others both at school and in the broader community. Students in Grades 7–8 have additional opportunities to serve at school and parish events, assist teachers and younger students, and participate in community service projects. Through these experiences, students develop compassion, responsibility, leadership, and a deeper understanding of the importance of serving others.

Altar Servers ▾

Students in Grades 5–8 may volunteer to receive training as altar servers and assist with weekday and Sunday liturgies.

Children's Choir ▾

Students in Grades 3–8 learn liturgical music and develop their vocal skills while preparing to sing at one 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass each month. Through music and worship, students have the opportunity to share their gifts and participate actively in the faith life of our school and parish community.

Eucharistic Ministers ▾

Students in Grade 8 may volunteer to receive training as Eucharistic Ministers and assist with school and parish liturgies. Through these opportunities, students learn that leadership is not simply about having a title—it is about serving others, contributing to the community, and living out the values of their faith.

Introduction to Latin ▾

This special, four-week offering explores the sacred language of the Church through Ecclesial Latin pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. Participants learn to recite traditional prayers and sing hymns in Latin while deepening their understanding of the Catholic faith.
