PHILOSOPHY

St. Cecilia Extended Care Program is in agreement with the philosophy of St. Cecilia School. We believe that the parents are the primary educators of the child and the Extended Care Program works cooperatively with the parents for the growth of the child. We strive to create a safe, warm, fun, and Christian environment that promotes a high self-image and positive attitude. Our program offers a special place for the children and staff to share their unique qualities and talents.

FEES

The yearly fee for Extended Care is pre-calculated according to the number of days you register your child. For your convenience, the full amount that you are responsible for will be divided into 9 monthly payments, from September–May. These fees will be added to your Tuition account.

DROP-IN

Drop-in is available for those children registered in Extended Care. Drop-in status is for those students who use the program 5 times or less a month and not on a consecutive basis. Drop-in is on a first come first serve basis, and 24-hour notice is required.

SCHEDULE

Extended Care is offered every school day.

  • TK/Kindergarten students=dismissal until 5:00 P.M.
  • 1st-8th Grades=dismissal until 6:00 P.M.

3:00-3:15 - Snack

A snack will be served every afternoon. On minimum days all children are required to bring a lunch. Lunch meals are not provided.

3:20-4:00 - Outside Play

The children play outside in the schoolyard every day. At times, we play organized games and at other times the children play on their own with various outdoor equipment. Extended Care also utilizes the Durocher Pavillon.

4:00-5:00 - Homework Time

A supervised study session is provided daily at Extended Care, except on Fridays. The staff will encourage supervision and completion of homework assignments. If a child does not have homework he/she is required to join in Quiet Time. This is a mandatory 25-minute period for the children to read books or rest. Staff is also available to read to the children. This ensures a quiet atmosphere until homework time is over.

4:00-5:00 - Quiet Time/Art

TK and Kindergarten children are required to participate in Quiet Time. Stories will be read to the children until 4:30. Art activities are taught from 4:30-5:00.

Activities

Children will be invited to participate in various activities. These activities range from arts and crafts to special projects. If the children do not choose to participate in an activity, they will have “Free Choice”. The children are free to decide what they will do during this time. They may choose to play with toys, games, or sit quietly to read or draw.
